l now, designing or managing large, high ceiling internal spaces has meant very expensive cooling and heating plant with high running costs. Up to seven metres in diameter, these very large fans are designed from advanced technology, but their effect is simple. In hot weather they can move up to 10,000 cubic metres of air per minute as a gentle breeze that cools the apparent temperature by 4 to 6°C. In winter, they move the layer of warm air at ceiling level, bringing it down to increase the temperature for people below. Ongoing running costs are a tiny fraction of any other heating or cooling solution which also means the creation of harmful greenhouse gases is significantly less. When retrofitted alongside existing air conditioning systems, savings in running costs of up to 15% can be achieved with no reduction in comfort levels.
